A Canadian Naval officer and his boyfriend made history this week after the couple shared a romantic embrace following the Master Seaman's lengthy deployment at sea.
But it wasn't just any romantic kiss.
This was a ceremonial first kiss that is shared between a sailor and his or her partner after they return from active duty and it is decided by a raffle.
As The CBC notes, this is the first time in the Canadian Navy's history that the smooch has been between two men.
“I just bought a [raffle] ticket because all the money goes to charity, I wasn’t thinking I was going to win,” said Master Seaman Francis Legare, who greeted his partner, Corey Vautour, after being aboard HMCS Winnipeg for 255 days.
"I am speechless."
We have no interest in starting some contentious debate on this website.
But we find this beautiful and, due to the history behind it, the video seemed worth sharing.
